The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has outlined the governmentâs transformative policies and institutional reforms to revitalise the forestry sector.
The initiatives include the Tree for Life programme, training of Blue Water Guards, engagement with parliamentarians on land restoration and enhanced protection of the nationâs forest cover.
Mr Buah, who was interacting with a delegation from the World Bank, Ghana, led by Country Director Mr Robert Taliercio OâBrien on Monday in Accra, highlighted the governmentâs commitment to strengthening partnership with the World Bank to advance investments in the forest economy, particularly in job creation.
The Country Director, Mr Robert Taliercio OâBrien, reaffirmed the World Bankâs commitment to supporting Ghanaâs forest economy for sustainable growth.
âThe Bankâs focus will include agroforestry projects, restoration of degraded forests and youth employment opportunities,â he said.
The partnership will generate jobs, improve livelihoods and promote sustainable forest management practices.
Additionally, the initiative aligns with Ghanaâs broader goals of reducing carbon footprint and contributing to global climate change mitigation efforts.
