GNHR, ISD hold stakeholders review meeting

Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR) and Information Services Department (ISD) have held a stakeholder’s review meeting to evaluate the Public Education Campaign on the National Household Registry exercise.

The meeting follows a series of public education by the ISD on the National Household Registry in the Central, Volta and Oti Regions.

Speaking at the meeting on Monday in Ho, the head of the GNHR, Dr Richard Adjetey praised the Department for facilitating data collection in the three regions.

According to him, the effective public education campaign carried out by the ISD in the Central Region helped the GNHR to experience an astounding data collection exercise.

“With the help of ISD, we have completed 71% of data in the Central Region, which is highly remarkable. This is one of the fastest data collections we have done in history

“We have covered about 211, 000 households because the communication went down well.. We are hoping that by 20th December, we will finish about 95.6% of data collection in the central region,” he noted.

Dr Adjetey said within a short period, GNHR data collectors in the Volta region have covered 39% which represents about 102,000 households.

“I will once again commend ISD for this success chalked in Volta Region. So far, we have not heard any complaint from field officers, meaning the Department did a yeoman’s job in sensitising the people,” he added.

He disclosed that the GNHR would soon embark on data collection in the eight remaining regions namely the Western North, Western Region, Bono, Ahafo, Eastern and Greater Accra Region.

“Data collection in these regions would be done simultaneously. We are going to add an addendum to the MoU we signed with the ISD to continue the sensitisation process,” he stated.

On his part, the Acting Chief Information Officer of the Information Services Department, Mr David Owusu-Amoah commended Information Officers for their roles in making the GNHR programme a success.

He stated that the success stories from public education campaigns would help the Department to do better and consequently help achieve its transformation agenda.

Mr Owusu-Amoah expressed gratitude to the GNHR for appreciating the efforts of the Department and further gave an assurance of improved service in subsequent dealings.

The Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR) is a unit under the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) with the mandate to establish a single national household register from which social protection programmes will select their beneficiaries.
