The Ga West Municipal Assembly has confirmed Mr. John Desmond Sowah as the Municipal Chief Executive on Wednesday in Accra.
After the elections, the house recorded 25 ‘yes’, which was a 100% vote cast, confirming the nominee and he was sworn in by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ms. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo.
Hon. John Desmond Sowah acknowledged all present and expressed gratitude for the support from both party and non-party members. He gave thanks to God as well as the Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Hon. Sedem Afenyo, and promised to work with him to ensure that the president’s initiatives such as Adwumawura, one million coders, and poultry in agriculture for the youth are achieved.
He also stated that he will improve the state of schools and hospitals in the municipality and construct more roads to make the municipality stand tall among all others. He urged the Assembly to uphold the principles of President John Dramani Mahama and help him fulfil his Manifesto promises.
Earlier on, before the elections, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ms. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Shai Osudoku, asked the Assembly members to make both herself and the President proud by confirming the MCE so he could assume office immediately.
The Member of Parliament for Amasaman Constituency, Mr. Sedem Afenyo, in his opening remarks, expressed gratitude to those present at the ceremony and urged the Assembly Members to make the confirmation of the MCE possible.
The occasion was graced by Esteemed Guest such as; Assistant Commissioner Of the Ghana Immigration Service, Ga West, the District Police Commander, Nii Dr. Amasah Osaku II, Former Presiding Members of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, President Of Ga West House of Chiefs, Vice Chairman of NDC for Amasaman Constituency, Ga West Chief Imam, Ga West Electoral commissioner, President of NALAG, Coordinating Directors, Chief Director from RCC, Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Regional Minister who also doubles as Member Of Parliament for Shai Osudoku and various departmental heads of the Assembly.
