The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has urged the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to improve its engagement with the tax payers to foster voluntary compliance and mitigate the numerous complaints that frequently arise during the tax collection process.
He made this call during the launch of the 2025 Tax and Good Governance Month as well as the Annual Management Retreat on Wednesday in Kumasi.
This programme which was organized by the Domestic Tax Revenue Division of the GRA was under the theme: “Transforming for Impact and Growth: Accelerating Domestic Revenue Mobilization through Effective Compliance.”
Dr. Amoakohene appealed to business owners not to take the leniency of revenue collectors for granted and commended the GRA for the revenue they have generated for the first quarter of 2025 since their performance of generating 41 billion cedis was commendable.
The Minister used the opportunity to urge the GRA to put in much effort in collecting revenue, because the cancellation of certain taxes may cause shortfall in revenue generation.
The Commissioner General for GRA, Anthony Kwasi Sarpong underscored the place of engaging tax payers, saying the Authority will promote healthy relationship with the Ghanaian tax payers.
