All government officials who were appointed or nominated before 31st March, 2025, and failed to meet the assets declaration deadline, are to forfeit three months of salary to be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
If by close of day Wednesday, 7th May, 2025, any of you still fail to declare your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed
President John Dramani Mahama issued this firm ultimatum to government appointees who failed to declare their assets by 31st March, 2025.
“Comply by Wednesday or lose your job,”he warned.
During Monday’s launch of a new Code of Conduct for Political Appointees at the Jubilee House, the President revealed that several officials missed the original March 31 deadline for asset declaration.
He noted that the asset declaration requirement forms part of a comprehensive new Code of Conduct that applies to all political appointees, including ministers, deputy ministers, presidential staffers, agency heads, and board members.
“The assets declaration regime is an important mechanism to check corruption and abuse of office, and it must be respected by all,” Mahama emphasized.
The salary penalty for late declarations is substantial – three months’ pay directed to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares), in addition to the one month’s salary all appointees are already required to donate to the fund.
This strict stance comes as part of what the President described as his “120-day social contract with the people of Ghana” to restore discipline, integrity, and accountability in governance.
“Let me assure you that these sanctions are not cosmetic, they’ll be enforced. And I’ll not hesitate to act firmly and decisively, no matter who is involved,” the President stated.
