Bolga East District receives 180 dual desks

As part of efforts to decongest classrooms at basic schools in the country to ensure social distance in the wake of the second wave of COVID-19, the Ministry of Education has started distributing dual desks to basic schools in the country.

Four schools in the Bolgatanga East District have received 180 dual desks from the Ministry of Education this year.

The schools were T.I. Ahmadiyya, the Zuarungu Moshi, the Nimolgo and the Grace Preparatory Primary school.

The number of desks each school received was T.I Ahmadiyya 80, Zuarungu Moshi 60, Grace Preparatory 38 and Nimolgo Primary School 22.

Acting District Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Abugre Abole, who donated the desks to the schools on behalf of the Ministry said inadequate furniture was one of the problems affecting learning in basic schools in the District apart from insufficient classroom space.

He said the desks would make the pupils and their teachers comfortable in the classroom and improve the quality of teaching and learning in the area.

He hinted that the Assembly was expecting additional 600 desks for other schools in the District.

He told the authorities of the beneficiary schools to take good care of the desks to enable the government to solve other challenges facing basic schools in the area.

He used the occasion to appeal to parent-teacher associations and philanthropists in the area to assist the government to fix the challenges facing the education sector in the area.

On his part, the District Director of Education, Mr. George Asira, said he had already received 780 dual desks from the Ministry for schools in the area last year and thanked the government for solving problems in the education sector in the area.
