The Right to Information Unit of the Information Services Department, in collaboration with the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council and the Asunafo North Municipal Assembly, conducted a sensitization exercise on the Right to Information Law (RTI ACT 2019, ACT 989) at the Asunafo North Municipal Fire Command.

Representing the Information Service Department were two RTI Officers from the Ahafo Region, namely Theophilus Nti-Antwi and Mr. Obed Asante Amoah, representing the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council and Asunafo North Municipal Assembly, respectively. They were accompanied by Mr. Felix Dugbenu, the regional photographer, and Mr. Michael Kwaku Owusu, the Senior Assistant Information Officer.

The audience included the Municipal Fire Commander, DO III Bernard Kanyi Aduadze, and other junior officers from the Municipal Fire Command. During the session, the two RTI officers provided comprehensive information about the RTI Law and how individuals can access information under the ACT. They emphasized that every individual, regardless of age, nationality, or background, has the right to access information, as enshrined in the 1992 Constitution under Article 21.

The officers highlighted the significance of the RTI Act for the Asunafo North Fire Officers and discussed its relevance to their daily work. The sensitization exercise equipped the fire officers with knowledge about their right to access information under the RTI Act and encouraged them to make use of this valuable tool in their roles.
