On May 15, 2024, the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly took a significant step toward promoting open governance by conducting a sensitization program on the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) at Saviour Senior High School in Akim Osiem. The session was led by Gideon Appiah Ofosu, the Right to Information Officer for the assembly, and aimed to enlighten students and staff about their rights to access information held by public institutions.
Mr. Ofosu addressed various essential topics during the informative session, including the fundamental right to access information, the application process for making information requests, applicable fees, and designated points of contact for inquiries. He stressed the many advantages of the RTI Act, emphasizing its role in empowering citizensâparticularly studentsâto engage more actively in public affairs.
