The Information Service Department (ISD) demonstrated its commitment to employee well-being by launching its inaugural mental health talk series on May 28th, 2024. Titled “Mental Health, Stress, and the Worker,” the event, held at the Ministry of Information’s Press Centre, provided staff with valuable knowledge and practical strategies for managing stress and promoting mental well-being in both the workplace and personal life.
Renowned Clinical Psychologist and Director of the UPSA Clinic, Dr. Isaac Newman Authur, served as the keynote speaker. Dr. Authur facilitated an interactive session, fostering a safe space for open dialogue and the sharing of personal experiences amongst staff members. The well-attended session boasted over 150 in-person attendees and an impressive additional 250 participants joining virtually from various regions.
Dr. Winnifred N. Mahama, Acting Director of ISD, commended the Human Resource (HR) Division for organizing such an impactful program. Highlighting management’s dedication to employee well-being, Dr. Mahama emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a positive work environment.
Echoing this sentiment, Madam Augustina E. Agyeman, Head of HR, expressed her gratitude for the staff’s participation and pledged to hold more similar events in the future. She reiterated the ISD’s commitment to investing in staff well-being, recognizing its role in cultivating a happy, healthy, and high-performing workforce.
